Respite

With summer literally around the corner for me, the stresses of finding summer work are pretty much null.

Job opportunities are flying at me now. Target called me to schedule an interview, which I now have to cancel because something much better has come up.

For starters, I've been training to be a caregiver for a young boy with cerebral palsy as discussed here. This job is pretty much set for me, hours will be all over the place and will have to work around the other job I am working to get.

That other job is being a respite provider [babysitter/caregiver again] for my cousin's autistic twin boys. I saw them many years ago when they were a lot younger and they're freaking adorable. I finally recently saw them at a family dinner on Good Friday. They're about 9 years old, hyper as hell, and still freaking adorable. Respite is something I've recently been informed of, and is literally all that I do on my job at the school. The awesome thing is respite care is something that you have to be certified for through an agency that will place you with various families that fit your needs and schedule whenever you need the work. So after doing this with my cousin, I'll have future connections for summers to come as well as for extra work during the school year. I'm thoroughly excited. I will be paid through the government agency, since my cousin qualifies for the aid. This job will be all summer, Mondays through Fridays from 2pm-6:15pm. I love that my cousin will be my boss and it will be in the setting of her home. Most importantly it will make her comfortable that her kids will be in my care, and this is a great opportunity for me to get closer to her and her kids. I've always looked up to this particular cousin and always wanted a chance to get to know her better. Here, it has finally come. For now we have to work through getting the agency to certify me and match me with her kids. Then I'll start. Yay!!
