There's some little background stories I need to provide before I ultimately get to the main thing I want to share.
First, I used to be obsessed with the show C.S.I Las Vegas. You can tell of my knowledge and interests in this CSI related post/paper I did. I have watched a great deal of these episodes and usually multiple times. I owned the first 3-5 seasons at some point. I've gone into phases of watching it a lot to not watching much. Currently I've fallen out of it but still watch some of it briefly during some of my lunches in front of the television. Despite my lack of current watching, I still love the show and I do wish to go back and watch every single episode.
Next, I have this enormous undying fascination and love for the character Gil Grissom. I'm physically and mentally attracted to him without a doubt. And I'm no longer afraid to admit that. Not only is he a crime scene investigator [something I already love], but he specializes in entomology. A man who, for starters, has a fascination and appreciation for bugs, human decomposition, the body, etc. is just amazing. That only relates to his profession. As an individual he has the most open mind I've ever witnessed. He absolutely never judges anyone. He is only a seeker of information, the facts. His curiosity has no boundaries and he is genuine in everything he does. He is also the most mysterious man I've ever witnessed. Which is both frustrating but oh so titillating. He knows sign language and has an intimate knowledge/association/openness towards the deaf. He is open to the alternative sex culture, open in the sense that he doesn't judge it but merely is fascinated by it. I could go on and on about all these little interests and his reactions, etc, therefore I'll keep it to a minimum of what is relevant here.
Grissom's qualities are so endearing because they match my own internal qualities. I mask some aspects of it for various reasons, whether to no completely freak out others, various dominant moods, etc. Human emotions, you know? That can open up a whole other discussion, but that's not what I'm getting at. However, Grissom has this separation from human emotion, one of which I can rarely ever grasp. Just about everything I do and think is tainted by emotion, feeling. Grissom is nearly robotic in this sense, which also makes his ability to not judge a lot easier, so I think.
Whilst talking about some irrelevant subject with a friend, something made me think of a few CSI episodes which made me google to figure out a character's name. This trail led me to this awesome article! "The Sexiest Man in the Morgue". This article discusses the appeal of Grissom, particularly his sex appeal. There is also an incredible comparison between him and Spock which pretty much blew my mind.
Now this whole Vulcan/Spock thing then brings me to another odd fascination I have. Which, not so surprisingly, I have mentioned just recently. I should, perhaps, even remind you of some of my Spock obsession: Just after I finally saw the new Star Trek, a little talking of seeing it again, and there's basically a lot of obsession of the actor, Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock. It's definitely interesting how much an attraction to a character eventually leads to an attraction of the actor. Well anyways-what is this appeal?
I'm still trying to figure that out. To sum up, most people I've kept around me in my life as friends and lovers have been Virgos. Not all of them, but there was always at least a couple that were really close to me at all times. Point being that Virgos are very logical, very Vulcan. I'm not the only one who thinks so either, check out what the authors say in Sextrology! It's even more interesting that this is the case for me, being as I said, a very emotional person. However, from my experience, Virgos and the many highly logical people I've been close to are far from unemotional. They're extremely rational yes, but they're also extremely private, hence the intriguing effect they have on me. They are also usually goodhearted and generally mean well, their emotions come when they are most important and necessary, but not always. So for reasons known and unknown, I've always been drawn to people of this sort. I would like to give some credit to my cousin who is also one of my best friends, who I've known all his life, has given me a lifetime of experience and knowledge of Virgos. I also want to say that, with it being 3am, it is his birthday today as well. So you can call this a little tribute if you will.
Another time, after more thought and experiences, I'll be able to discuss this Vulcan/Virgo love further. But today the main point was sharing that article, but it deemed necessary to explain all the little counterparts and my own personal thoughts.
Isn't it nice to have Vulcans here on earth?
