-Woody Allen
To further add to my experience of Midnight in Paris of the previous post, I want to describe a silly thing that occurred to me. Prior to the opening of this film, I read about it and how actors Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen started to date upon making this film. I'm a big fan of both of them [seen here and here, at least], needless to say I'm a bit excited.
I'm not even going to bother to hide the fact that this coupling had something to do with my wanting to see this film. It's not the only reason, of course, for I absolutely love Allen's films.
Now, here's another spoiler alert, although I will keep it to a minimum. From the start of the film, anytime Sheen and McAdams were in a scene together I had this retarded grin on my face. It took me a few moments to realize what I was doing, but then I couldn't help it at all. Of course, I was distracted from the actual scenes, the dialogue and only proceeded to watch the way the actors looked at each other. Well, they are good actors for I couldn't tell a damn thing. Yes, I'm silly to even try but that's what I do. And of course again I was sad he wasn't present in the film all that much.
As for Owen Wilson being the main star of the film, isn't a preference of mine. I am, in no way, talking about his skills as an actor. He's great but I personally don't care for him as much as I do other actors. Let's say that if this film wasn't a Woody Allen film but starred Wilson, I may not have seen it. And to put in other words, I really can't stand his nose.
Moving on, all the little hints and references made in the film were fantastic! There were so many characters of old famous writers and artists, some of my favorites at that! I really don't want to give away who they are, because they are supposed to be of surprise in the film, continuously. But eventually, I will have to say something.
