Photo Fest: September First Friday & Meatfest

Before I begin to post several new posts and photo fests, I need to get a few others out of the way...for I prefer to be chronological. It's better for my mind anyways.

Last month, my best friend and I went to First Friday. I only took a few photos, but I'd like to post them anyways.

The above 3 photos were done by artist Mollie Kellogg, who uses an amazing amount of texture, shimmer, color, and other mix media. Her work was really gorgeous and really captivated us. We exchanged a few words with the artist and she was really nice. I must also add that these photos don't even capture half of the awesomeness of these paintings. There is not a single space on the canvas that is not covered in multiple layers or with multiple colors. That's what made it so beautiful, amongst other things.

The 2 photos above were taken in a little gallery full of works that had simple color schemes with perfect systematic layers and shapes creating mechanical and anatomical forms. They were quite inspiring.
Milkstache after a spicy meal at the Arrogant Butcher.
The Westin Hotel at night.
She's refusing to let me take a photo of her laying on  an inclined paved structure.

Several of these remind me of one of my favorite artists, Alex Grey.

I freaking love it.
Day of the dead series

Also awesome.
This was in a fake television set, so it definitely got your attention.
This is a painting that I own, as previously bought for me at another First Friday.
Some very large and intense paintings.

Toilet seat art!!
She's a tard.

After that weekend, the following Monday was Labor Day, in which my friends had a Labor Day Meatfest. I took some photos, because, well, you'll see why.
The boys made their own rotating roaster. It's fucking awesome. And  full of awkward loud sounds.
As you can see, it runs on a drill. God, I love it!
This is duck and geese over the fire by the way.

The guys taking the wire wrapping off with pliers.
We also had several other chickens, so many pounds of brisket, at least another duck, and whatever else I'm leaving out. There's a reason we call these Meatfests.
And here's an addition to the family, Mila Nibbles. Pretty freaking cute.
