Photo Fest: Fetish Ball 2011

On October 8th I attended the final fetish/ Horns & Halos event of the year, Fetish Ball. It was a blast, but before I talk about the event, I must tell you about my 5 plus hour preparation.

For about the whole month or so prior to the event I had been planning on creating some sort of elaborate get up/attire. I wanted to make use of a lot of make up and perhaps feathers. Eventually I got the idea that I wanted to be bloody. But then I got the idea that I wanted to paint my face Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead style. I decided to put them together, half and half on my face. Because I wanted to do something different. After I decided that, I was having a hard time deciding on the costume itself. I wanted to wear something different, that I hadn't worn to the events before, and I still wanted to incorporate blood. After more time and discussing it with my friend, the plan gradually changed.

We looked through some photos, my clothes collection, and considered what I owned that it would be perfect to go all out Day of the Dead style. And I mean, to go ALL OUT.

The weekend prior to the event, I tried on some clothes to see what looked best together. Next we practiced some make up and hair styles. This was the unfinished results of our test.

We were very grateful to have at least practice once before the event because it allowed us to approach make up in the most long lasting and best looking way possible.

I should also mention the ultimate inspiration for the make up style. Sylvia Ji is an amazing painter who does a lot of Day of the Dead girls. If you were around for the old days of Alchemy, you would of noticed a lot of her art set in the templates of this blog, or even just in some posts.

Now, below are pictures of the whole epic process for the day and night of the event. My best friend helped me while we took turns taking photos.

Only a portion of the make up collection.

Raccoon face...

Hamburglar?!
We're friends for a reason.

I eventually became a "patient" as we started to make me more comfortable with  office desk chairs and towels for my neck.

This photo looks pretty cool. I'm applying my fake eyelashes.
The glitter around the eyes made it look really fantastic.
Awesome spider web.

More detailing.
Creeper face.

Spade on the nose.
Jawline.

Completed details.
Finished hair and costume.

A TON of feathers.

I look like a Mayan Goddess or something.

Finally arrived to the event.

Suspension show that was really awesome, more details on that another time.

These next few photos are from when I got home after the event. This goes to show that the make up held up really well. It only got messed up on my cheek where my friend continued to kiss me.

I thought this looked kinda spooky/cool.
This was a photo taken by a professional photographer at the event.
This is a photo taken by another professional photographer and acquaintance of mine. He took about a hundred photos of me that night, but this was the only one that released online.
