From Coffee to Fashion

While I was walking around Office Max the other day a fun thought occurred to me. I was in the aisle with coffee machines and I realize I don't have to spend money on those for my own place. I smiled at the thought. But the processes of my mind brought upon another thought. I would have to get a coffee machine for my guests. Nearly everyone drinks coffee, so yeah, gotta do it. I'll get a cheap one and store it away somewhere for whenever that case comes up.

Ok, so that might be an odd/random way to start a blog, but I felt like sharing the mental process. After all, that's what Alchemy is.

And to more realizations!

It's amusing the moves that guys make on girls. The age differences in the males particularly. Younger guys always have to do this sneaky stuff. It's this goddamn game, one that I no longer have patience for. Older guys are far more straight forward. Meanwhile, it becomes more obvious to myself how straight forward I am. That I want what I want and go for it. I think that has a lot to do with my usually making the first move. I want to put it out there, and not wait around for them to make some sort of strategy. Over the years I've definitely had the voice in my head yelling at whoever the guy is, "Just do it!" Sometimes I don't want to have to do all the work. And it's not just the physical acts of making a move, but verbal as well. Both of which I usually take the initiative. Then this is where I'm saying, "Just say it!" over and over in my mind.

I don't like needy people and I definitely don't like when people tell me what I need.

Often I'm really crappy at telling stories, relaying large amounts of information, etc. This is further complicated by the strong fact that many things make perfect sense in my mind but when it comes to explaining them verbally to someone else, I can never make sense of it for them to understand. My level of understanding of things is quite different. Even this is hard to explain.

A good friend informed me of this stunning video that you must watch in full screen view. The video is 3 and a half minutes long of amazing cityscapes that make my heart burst. And the music is from the film Inception. Even better!

This is an interesting article about make-up and fashions that women do a lot of that men apparently don't like. A lot of it made me laugh, but a large majority of it I actually agree with. Because I can, I'm going to take the 8 things from their list and add my own commentary.
  1. Foundation: I hate it. I understand the uses and what not. But I simply hate it. I don't use it and never plan on it. I prefer to show my real skin and I definitely don't want to fuck up my skin with that nasty feeling stuff. And as the article points out, it gets on other things and people. And the flaking is horrible too. A great deal of women also put on too much, the wrong color [too orange], and have an obvious line along their jaw or neck. I think it's one of the most misleading make up items that women can wear. Just Google "celebrities without makeup" it's so bad.
  2. "Bumps": Not particularly a fan. Very small ones ["poofs"]are fine and if they're done well. As for hair that has the kind of Snooki bumps, I hate that. And very loose and bumpy pony tails too. Ugh.
  3. Neon Lipstick: Agreed! That orange, hot pink, bright purple, and damn white lipstick is just gross. And even more so when they're making duck faces [check out AntiDuckface]. I personally wouldn't want to kiss lips with that crap on it.
  4. Too-thin Brows: Also agreed. A good example is Pamela Anderson's eyebrows. I have a fondness for thick eyebrows and great classic shapes and arches. Super thin and round shaped eyebrows are not good, and especially ones that are drawn on. My eyebrows used to be quite thin of which I have recently grown them out and reshaped them. I'm enjoying them more, and they definitely alter my face.
  5. Bold Eyeshadow: I don't necessarily agree with this. For those that know me, this is pretty much all I ever wear [and really the only make up I do wear]. I do understand where this is getting at, a lot of people cannot pull off brightly colored eyeshadow, but some can without looking like a hooker. Eyeshadow is an art to me, so color must be involved. Here is an example of something I don't particularly like. And whoaaa, here's a really bad one.
  6. Rosy Cheeks: I like how the article mentioned old ladies. They are often the ones with far too pink or red cheeks. Blush is something I randomly use whenever I just happen to feel like it or think about it, which amounts to only a handful of times a year. This is definitely something that can be overdone.
  7. Two-Toned Lips: Ohhh yess, this is a baddie. I think this is something of a phase some girls go through when they're young. I did it before, but there are some people that don't grow out of it. It definitely seems to be a Hispanic trend. I just don't get it.
  8. Glitter: First of all, as I'm writing this my face is covered in some glitter that I wore yesterday. Sooo, obviously I love glitter. I understand why guys wouldn't like it, and in some or maybe most cases it doesn't look good on people. But in my world, glitter fucking rocks. And for the most part, everyone I come into contact with loves it on me [and eventually on themselves heh]. For the last couple years glitter has become a part of my identity and people are usually surprised when I'm not wearing any.

And to finish off this post, I want to share something I did a few months ago. In conversation with someone I was inspired to take my own duck face photograph, with a specific caption to go with it. Enjoy.
This is not the best duck face in the world. This is just a tribute.
There we have it. I can criticize all the above but yet still put myself out there like in this photo. And I thought the blinking added a perfect touch.
