"I Suppose That's the European Way, Dangerous and Hairy."

I just attended the premiere of The Mechanic tonight. It was actually good. It wasn't just a non-stop-all-action-in-your-face-movie. There was more to it, and it made it more enjoyable.  SPOILER ALERT: I'm not going to any in depth research or anything, at least not at the moment, but Jason Statham's characters never die! I freaking love it too. It's amusing as hell. Upon seeing this film, it really stands out to me that he is the James Bond of our time, but probably more badass. I have nothing against James Bond, actually I quite enjoy it. I think it's the intelligence, planning, and gadgets that I love the most. I also don't particularly care for Pierce Brosnan, and haven't watched the originals for any extended amount of time before. Speaking of Statham though, it's kind of interesting that he's currently dating a girl exactly my age. And he's a Virgo. Seems like she likes the older ones...nice.

I also wanted to mention something I found interestingly contradicting about our culture [at least ours]. Before seeing the movie, the guys putting it on had to do their speech and what not. He listed the cast members and mentioned Donald Sutherland, followed by "that guy's still alive?" I found this interesting because it's often we, in general, think things like that about various people but then there is this total shock when in fact an individual, especially a celebrity, does die. It's quite annoying actually. But that's all I wanted to say for now.

Another thing I experienced was last night I watched Nine 1/2 Weeks last night for the first time. It stars Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger, a very interesting erotic film based off a novel which I must get my hands on. This is the first time I've seen a film when Mickey Rourke's face wasn't a car wreck. It now feels to me that Mickey Rourke is two different people. It blows my mind.

Well those are my amusements of the last 24 hours. Now I'm off to watch more movies and hopefully catch up on sleep.
