I woke up 3am sharp from an intense dream [of the many]. It was rather short, or at least my memory of it was. It started at a party of which cops had to be called, and they may have been called on by myself. There was a tonnnn of cops. I don't remember the reason but whatever the case, I was not in trouble and I actually knew at least one of the cops. I remember walking out of the apartment and talking to the cop. The whole time I was holding a cat in my arms, a gray and white cat... As I was walking to another section of the complex [it was night time] where there was a grassy area with bushes enclosing some little planter area. A girl that I knew [but I am unsure of how well I knew her] was standing in that area talking on the phone and I guess I was waiting for her. She ended up just laying in the planter/enclosed grassy area still talking on the phone and a guy [that we may have known] started walking up to us. On the other end of the area I see very shallow and clear water and an alligator/crocodile [I honestly wouldn't be able to tell you which] and I kind of panic but mention something, apparently not loud enough for anyone else. The next minute the predator starts approach the girl as I'm manically trying with all my panicked breath to say that there's an alligator near her. She's still busy talking on her phone and unable to hear me and then gets attacked by it. The guy is still standing there and now starts to scream nothing but profanities. He was just watching and screaming but not doing anything about it, meanwhile he is actually standing closest to her while I'm separated from her by bushes. She's screaming. I'm freaking out but trying with all my might to speak and walk back towards where all the cops are. My body is partially paralyzed by fear and so my vocal cords. Before I reached help I woke up. Now that I am remembering it, I believe I actually saw her at some point with less damage than I would have imagined. But I woke up with a racing heart...I don't think I've ever really woken up that way before. I've had plenty of intense, negative, and scary dreams but I never typically wake up in that racing heart and sweaty state. I think this was another instance where I was unaware of my dreaming. I wonder why this is happening. But oddly I woke up to my boyfriend already being up, sitting at the computer. Today, I realized that just about every time I have a horrible dream at my boyfriend's house, it happens to be [or at least from the moment I woke up] when he is not literally in the bed. Strange.
I have never dreamt of an alligator/crocodile before, but here are the interpretations:
To see an alligator in your dream, symbolizes treachery, deceit, and hidden instincts. It may be a signal for you to take on a new perspective on a situation. It may also represent your ability to move between the physical, material world of waking life and the emotional, repressed world of the unconscious. Alternatively, the alligator represents healing powers and qualities. An alligator also suggests that you are thick-skinned or insensitive.
To dream that you are running away from the alligator, indicates that you are unwilling to confront some painful and disturbing aspect of your unconscious. There is some potentially destructive emotion that you are refusing to acknowledge and owning up to.
To dream that you are raped by an alligator, indicates that you feel violated or taken advantage of in some way. The alligator is symbolic of someone who is ruthless, insensitive and treacherous. This person has a strong hold on you despite your efforts to break free from the unhealthy relationship.
According to biblical interpretations, an alligator suggests that leviathan is king over the children of pride. (Psa 74:14, Job 41:1,Isa 27:1)
To see a crocodile in your dream, symbolizes freedom, hidden strength and power. It also forewarns of hidden danger. Someone near you is giving you bad advice and is trying to sway you into poor decisions. Because crocodiles can live in water and on land, they also represent your conscious and unconscious and the emotional and rational. Perhaps something is coming to the surface and you are on the verge of some new awareness.
Alternatively, the crocodile may be an aspect of yourself and your aggressive and "snappy" attitude. Or it may reveal that are being insincere, displaying false emotions and shedding "crocodile tears".
To dream that you are chased or bitten by a crocodile, denotes disappointments in love and in business.
