So it occurred to me yesterday, officially and finally, that I will eventually need a Facebook. It's quite unfortunate. But the event that lead to this thought was the drive home from Glendale just as I got back from Mexico. I passed a landmark of Shamrock Farms that is just off of the I-17 which has been there for as long as I can remember. Its digital sign has updated its capabilities to being able to read Find us on:
Now, for Shamrock Farms to do that, I realized how much more and more the entire fucking world is revolving around Facebook and soon enough I will have a harder and harder time finding out information about people and places until I get one. Sadly enough, that is. I understand the goods, the pros, the convenience, the advancement, this all is, but there are a lot of parts of me that make me particularly uninterested, unenthusiastic, and annoyed. I don't want this to be another blog post of why I don't want a facebook/myspace/etc. But I do want to make a major note that school/time have a lot to do with it. And that maybe, just maybe sometime when I'm done with school I just may get one. It's a consideration at the moment.
Also speaking of Facebook, the film that will be all about it, The Social Network, is coming out in a couple months. I do, indeed, want to see it. However I wanted to inform you that Trent Reznor [genius of Nine Inch Nails, How To Destroy Angels, etc.] and Atticus Ross [genius of the same and even more] have joined forces once again and created the score for this film which will also be released very soon. I'm excited for both, and good news from Reznor himself "Speaking of the film... it's really fucking good. And dark!"
More Facebook humor cartoons here.
In my learning/researching process, I also discovered a parody site of Facebook. Verrry interesting...Welcome to Openbook.
