I'm feeling more and more like an anthropologist. I love it.
Today was my first day of the internship. I got to meet 2 girls of the 6 others that will be working there. Both are very nice and not discomforting or anything negative. One actually is in my human osteology class, so I'm sure we'll pair up a lot from here on. The experience was great and quite short [a little over an hour]. We got a little tour and started to transport large boxes from one room into others, move shelving and some shelf cleaning as well. The building we are working in actually used to be an old hospital which excites me. The elevator is old, large, and slightly creepy. The hallways are wide and lined with yellow tiles and metal bars. There's bugs, dust, and spider webs in most areas which the building is pretty much a giant storage space for anthropological items and books. I guess we need to empty a room that we will then put in the recently donated collections that we will be working with. So we're starting off with some good ol' dirty work. And if you haven't realized yet, I actually like dirty work. I miss it, from when I worked at Savers. I was the only girl that did most of the "man work" there. We have to log in our tasks and hours spent doing them so they know how things are moving along. The main woman in charge provided the tour earlier in the morning so I have yet to meet her. So this is pretty awesome so far and I need to stop getting nervous. I'll be back there on Wednesday.
