Legislation

Oh my god.

This photo is completely unrelated to the rest of this post. I just had to share it.

Voted yes on 100 today. Woo! Gotta love early ballots.

I really hate the unfortunate publicity that Arizona now has due to the passing of SB 1070. Fucking horrific. Claiming that this will NOT encourage racial profiling is complete bullshit and you have to be a complete idiot if you think that isn't going to happen. Fuck.
My coworker, born an raised in America, is worried that she could get pulled over simply because she looks Mexican! Her biological father is Brazilian, hence some resemblances. Hell, I could experience the same thing, for people do sometimes take me for Hispanic. How the hell would I prove that I'm an American citizen, something so simple and ingrained in me? What if they didn't believe me? What if they didn't believe others? What will this come down to? Nothing good, that's for sure. What will happen if other states follow this trend? Will we soon weed out all other races and ethnicities regardless of their legal status? Are the Canadians next? Asians?
What about those waiting to become legalized? A very long process it is.
What about those that are citizens but will probably be harassed nonetheless?
We are all human.
How many more eras need to pass until we are all equal?
Will the human race even exist then?
