Last night I watched the film Gummo. Immensely interesting and just plain weird, if that word even covers it. I am now wanting to see his other film, Kids.
I also saw the four hour Japanese film, Seven Samurai, which was fascinating because it was made in 1954. Not only was the story interesting but I was enthralled by the acting and filming of that time and location. I now desperately want to see Akira Kurosawa's colored film Dreams, obviously because of my obsession and fascination with dreams, and my new found knowledge and respect for the director and his legacy.
Upon telling my coworker about the film Gummo, she informed me of the 1932 film Freaks. She said this film creeped her out quite a bit and is listed as one of Rob Zombie's favorite films. It features real life "freaks" in freakshows. Now that will be quite a trip, to see a film like that made in the 30's. I want to get my hands on it!
