Fire It Up

About an hour ago two houses down from me caught on fire. They just finally killed the fire about a half hour ago. It was intense, I had just gotten out of the shower, no hearing aids on and getting ready. I looked out my window and it was just complete whiteness everywhere. Smoke everywhere. I waited while looking around for some sign of a source, then I started seeing my neighbors walking towards a general area. I knew at once there was a fire but I didn't know where other than southward from my house. I walked outside and saw the horrid thing and my next door neighbor [whom lives in between me and the house on fire] running like a mad woman and yelling something about her house. I was scared shitless that the fire would spread, I was waiting for the sign to then run into my house and save my dogs. Luckily it didn't have to come down to that. However I also felt horrible to the thoughts of their house being a tremendous mess now. The worst part is they have been doing renovations for the past month and a half and they were near completion and now this happens. Apparently one of the workers cut through an electrical wire, thus starting the fire. No one is hurt, but the damages are bad that's for sure. I hate seeing fire where it isn't meant to be. However the only good news is that I'm trapped in my house so I will be late for work in which I have to bee there in ten minutes. Heh. Firetrucks are everywhere, they have some from Scottsdale and Phoenix. Crazy. Oh also, the two closest fire hydrants had no water, which they finally found one further down the street that worked. How horrible is that.

I briefly volunteered for the American Red Cross and I was sent out to a few house fires while I was there. It was pretty intense. There is nothing like the smell of a house fire. It's weird. If they lost all their food or clothes or don't have anywhere to stay, Red Cross can help them with accommodations. That is, if they're not already there.
