We did several things in Flagstaff. Mostly driving. We drove out to a cabin, took a ranger out to go shooting. I was highly amused by this woman driving the ranger, pretty amazing. Got to see some snow fall. Checked out the historical Riordan Mansion. Ate a lot of amazing food. Hung out with a bunch of mammals and great people. Kicked ass at Cornhole and arcade bowling. Most importantly I finally got to visit the Lowell Observatory. This was part of my original plan, the only idea I had for a trip in either southern or northern Arizona. Luckily we made it happen and I felt like a kid in a candy shop. I saw this sign at the entrance and it was the first thing to make me all giddy.
Because we were there during daylight we only got to check out Venus and the star Sirius. Venus was just a small crescent in the sky while Sirius was shining blue, like a bright spectrum of light. It was beautiful. We only got to see Sirius in the refracting telescope so we didn't get to check out any of their larger main telescopes located in the domes. Some day I'll have to go back there for a more in depth visit.
