So being an anthropology major, I have some very brief information to share. Religious taboos are a great way for governments/rulers/chiefs/leaders to control their people. AKA brainwashing you. There's plenty of historical examples but let's be honest, I wouldn't have a clue where to start. Just take my word for it.
